The success of the Neurology Residency Program is directly attributable to the outstanding qualities of our residents, an environment conducive to learning and career support, and the academic, clinical care, and educational contributions of our faculty as role models. Our residency program is directed by John Engstrom, MD and Ms. Carol Piunti serves as the Residency Program Manager. We have added a full-time assistant coordinator to help with oversight of program operations. Our chief and senior residents provide peer leadership that is essential to the success of our program.
The UCSF Neurology Residency Program continues to grow. We currently have 26 neurology residents (20 adult, 6 child). We have rolled the R1 year into the neurology residency with 6 adult residents this year and have begun a flexible residency program with 3 residents (with time blocks for areas of concentration). We are fortunate to attract and match outstanding residency applicants.
